I've had this blog for several months and have yet to write anything in it. I'm intimidated by it. I like blogs, people are doing beautiful and brilliant things, having original thoughts, and writing them down. I don't want to pretend to be in the same league as that.

But I am leaving for the Peace Corps in August, I have an assignment in Kazakhstan and I'm pretty excited about it.

As far as commending you.. I shall commend anyone I damn well please. But I'm sure you will be happy to learn the rest of us fleeing this fattened country are aware we're selfish assholes..however we continue to embrace our hedonistic tendencies, rather than hinder them. Therefore we blatantly welcome the upsetting commendations, because well... we're selfish assholes.
As another Kaz-20 volunteer, I know what you mean about the strange feeling of being commended for going. I feel the Peace Corps is a selfless way to serve or even a sacrifice. It's actually a pretty sweet deal for me to travel and gain experience in working in an international setting. I think your expectations and honesty will serve you well.
